City Makers Summit 2016

SOFBMP4eDiner-23

State of Flux and the programma ‘Grote Plein’ at Buikslotermeerplein was one of the cases at the international City Makers Summit of Pakhuis de Zwijger. This summit took place from the 27th till the 30th of May in Amsterdam. We were one of the two cases of the ‘Route Noord‘ during the ‘We Learn‘ expedition at the 29th of May.

The City Makers Summit pooled the knowledge from City Makers all over Europe and demonstrated innovative ways of creating more livable, thriving, resilient and inclusive cities. City Expeditions all over the Netherlands have showcased emerging initiatives focusing on urban farming, social design, the redevelopment of industrial heritage, co-housing, the makers movement, social entrepreneurship, inclusion of refugees, collaborative area development, community enterprises, the circular economy, and so on. Best practices and models of collaboration with multiple stakeholders were be explored and fed into the City Makers Agenda.

State of Flux received some 25 professionals from all over the world to hear about our method of involving a diverse group of stakeholders in revitalizing public space. We showed the Buikslotermeerplein where we’re currently implementing this method and discussed the development of a toolkit to help other citymakers involve their stakeholders in programming public space.
